A women led not for profit, non-government organization (NGO), established in 1993 with an aim to ensure social justice, protection and promotion of human rights, especially the rights of children. In order to achieve this aim, it has been working in three programmatic pillars: Child Protection, Rights To Education and Family Empowerment. 

Established in 1998 with the values of the fundamental rights and responsibilities provided by the constitution of Nepal in order to support Women with Disabilities (WWDs) to pursue their rights, and provide them protection and livelihood support. Unless WWDs from all sections of the Nepalese community understand their human rights, particularly ensured by the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and exercise them, their lives will not be bright and prosperous. 

NDWA aims to build the capacity of the WWDs living in both urban and remote areas of the country in order to make them capable and empowered so that they can take initiative to exercise their rights. It is vital to empower women from other disadvantaged communities such as women with disabilities from Dalit and Madhesi to build their self- esteem and confidence. In this context, NDWA has an important role to advocate on the issues of WWDs, such as rights to education, health, employment, rehabilitation and social security. NDWA seeks to create and lead a nationwide network of self-help groups of WWDs to achieve its mission. 

To organize, protect and promote unprotected and unorganized informal sector workers including home based workers throughout Nepal by advocating and empowering Home Workers and Home Based Workers directly and through Member Based Organisations at different levels. Currently, HNN focuses on organizing the unorganized, unprotected and invisible home based workers and grass-root producers. It has been advocating for the comprehensive social protection for the informal sector workers and to promote their decent employment and self-employment. HNN is also working on the gender equality and ending all forms of violence and harassment through promoting the One Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC).  

Apart from that, it is fully engaged on supporting the grass-root self-employed producers and out-sourcing home based workers and help them to create market opportunities within and outside the country. HNN also engages with researchers on several issues affecting informal sector workers. 

It was established to meet the needs of a common platform to end forced labour in Nepal. This open network involves 21 organizations from all regions of Nepal and has been doing awareness raising and training about forced labor, advocacy at the policymaking level, civil monitoring of forced labor conditions, etc. FLeAG has conducted various activities in coordination and collaboration with ILO and other national organizations such as capacity building workshops for FLeAG Members, Discussion Meetings with Parliament members for the integrated Forced labor Act, Consultations with Trade Unions, Interaction with Ministry of Labor Employment and Social Security, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, delegation to the different ministries, political parties etc. Its goal is to liberate Nepal from all forms of forced labor with the political system and implementation through the wide participation of citizens. 

NEPAN is a network organization established by development professionals and likeminded institutions dedicated to promoting participatory and people centric 

approach in development interventions. This organization was established in 1992 as a loose network and registered as a non-government organization (NGO) in 1995. Currently, NEPAN has the support of around 150 life members, 161 annual members and 38 institutional members.  

The core functions of NEPAN from the beginning are knowledge sharing, capacity building and research. Good governance, gender mainstreaming and social inclusion are taken as cross-cutting issues. NEPAN has been working continuously for the last 23 years with the capacity of 5-20 full time and 5-10 part-time human resources depending upon the funding size.  

Its goal is to be developed as a vibrant network which is able to advocate for participatory, people centric and inclusive development in Nepal through its members, collaborators and partners. 

A non-governmental organization, established in 1995, with the aim of fighting for the socio-cultural, economic and political rights of single women of Nepal. WHR strives to create a just and equitable society where there will be “no discrimination on the basis of marital status”. 

WHR has been a pioneer in addressing single women’s issues and has worked in the area of socio-cultural, economic, legal and political empowerment of single women. 

As a humanitarian organization, WHR is dedicated to creating an active network of single women on a regional, national and international level. By working exclusively with and for them, WHR is dedicated to addressing the rights of single women and creating an impartial society where their lives are strengthened and empowered. 

Nari Sewa Kendra (NSK) (previously named Nari Hasta Kala Vikas Kendra) encourages and develops communities to support poor and excluded women’s rights. They aim to ensure direct participation of target group in the process of decision-making, implementation, sharing benefits and evaluation of the entire process duly considering transparency, integrity and accountability. 

RDN is the national level Dalit organization working in the field of Dalit rights, land rights, Haliya rights, Kamaiya rights and Human Rights through community mobilization, capacity building and advocacy campaigns since the time of its establishment. It is working all over the country in 77 Districts. It has one Dalit activist in each district and 7 provincial chapters formed and functional. RDN Nepal is registered as a non-governmental organization in District Administration Office, Kailali and affiliated in Social Welfare Council in 2004. It organizes the General Assembly each year and election in each three years through democratic practice. It has regular audit and social audit from the very beginning. 

RDN Nepal has been working on human rights and social justice to end impunity, deprivation through human rights based to development.  Its goal is to influence the decision making level to guarantee political, economic, social and cultural rights by elimination of caste based untouchability and discrimination 

COCAP is a network born out of a national symposium on conflict transformation and peace building in June 2001. Since its inception, COCAP has been consistently organizing various campaigns and conferences on human rights, peace-building and constitution writing, and social security/ protection at national, regional, and local levels. Its aims to strengthen the capacity of COCAP volunteers and Member Organizations through providing various training and networking opportunities, and contribute to promoting a culture of volunteerism among Nepali civil society organizations. 

Its second objective is to strengthen networks for peace advocacy by creating a platform for professionals, youths, women and marginalized groups for learning, sharing and initiating joint peacebuilding work. 

Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (Jcycn) was formed by the graduates of Jagriti Child Club (JCC).  JCYCN became the first registered child club established independently which battled legally without citizenship for the registration of child clubs.  At present, more than 23,000 child clubs are actively working across Nepal and registered at local governments.  

JCYCN is actively engaged in advocacy and campaign for the right of children and youth since its establishment. It has been upholding issues concerning youth such as Child/Youth/Nutrition friendly local governance, girls empowerment, youth employment, participation, justice promotion and safer migration. It has gained substantial experiences on grassroot and national level of policy advocacy, and international level of solidarity.   

One of Nepal leading women organization, it has been working regarding children and women’s right since its inception. It is an action oriented; social non-profit, non-political child rights organization established in 1990 and is registered in Sindhupalchowk, It is based on the rights of underprivileged women and girls who have been led behind due to the existing patriarchal norms and values of the society. The organization has been raising issues of women and girls trafficking including women right issues, as its major concern. It has been focusing on research, advocacy, debate, women empowerment and awareness raising programs to change patriarchal set mind. 

It is a local community based social organization which comprises only women in its executive board.

All Nepal Federation of Trade Unions (ANTUF) is one of the largest trade union in Nepal with over 400.000 members both from formal and informal economy. This confederation was established in 2007 with the motto of promoting and protecting the rights of workers, especially blue-collar and mainly in informal sectors within and beyond the nation. Since inception, ANTUF has been leading discussions on labour issues and rigorously intensifying its advocacy campaigns to ensure the fundamental rights of workers. ANTUF strives for a democratic labor market and industrial development in the newly established republic where political, socio-economic and workers rights are guaranteed. Since decent work, social security of workers and democratic labour market are workers’ prioritized issues, ANTUF from the beginning, has been constantly striving for reforms of the Labour Law and Social Security Act.

NTUC is a network of around 27 trade unions, engaging both formal and informal employment sectors, in both the private and public spheres - from education, construction, textiles and catering, to transportation, informal crafts and artisanal trades. NTUC focuses on child labour, promotion of health and well-being at work, training workers about their rights, promoting gender equality and a universal social security system.

As an umbrella organisation made up of the three largest unions in Nepal (GEFONT, NTUC and ANTUF) - the ITUC-NAC is the driving force behind effective cooperation of most Nepali trade unions in the Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC). Here they agree on common positions and advocacy strategies, covering various issues, including social protection, occupational health and safety, and labour standards.

SPCSN is a platform of 16 local civil society organisations representing, among others, the elderly, people with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, child rights movements. SPCSN focuses mostly on non-contributory social security schemes, such as child allowances, pensions, disability allowances, access to health, as well as adaptative social protection in case of shocks.

YCW is a movement present all around the globe that organizes young workers, students, farmers, informal workers, unemployed, teleworker and care workers, etc. all those who face exploitation and precarity in their working and living conditions.

In Asia-Pacific Region (ASPAC), YCW-ASPAC has spread in many countries where it has trained numerous workers and leaders. Now, this is a movement of young workers present in 10 countries in Asia Pacific region, run and organised by young workers themselves.

They are mobilizing young workers in most precarious and marginalised sectors such as pedicab drivers, young women workers, factory workers, agricultural workers, brick line workers, casual workers etc. IYCW-ASPAC want to end precarious work through the regulation of the work of all (precarious) workers to protect them from unfair dismissals, forced outsourced employment and inequality of conditions between permanent and temporary or precarious workers.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) or “Peoples Health Centre” is an NGO with the motto “Grame Cholo-Gram Goro” which means “Let’s go to the Village and Build the Village” founded by progressive doctors in 1972. Vision is “Fate of the Country Depends on the Fate of the Poor” and “Development of the Country Depends on the Development of the Woman”.

Over the decades GK has brought healthcare to over 1 million – mostly poor and rural – people by setting up 43 health centers and seven hospitals. GK also trains and employs local people as health workers, of which there are now over 2,200. GK’s work achieved drastic reductions in infant mortality. GK also organizes income generating activities to help people with an income. GK introduced health insurance in Bangladesh and is actively involved in policy making.

This platform was established in October 2017 by trade unions and NGOs who work on social protection for the working-class community. Besides improving the structure of the network and effective coalition building among the members and strengthening digital communication, BSPAN strengthens advocacy for universal social protection by linking with local and national platforms and lobby for the ratification of ILO Convention 102.OSHE foundation is the secretariat of BSPAN. 

NGWF strives for fair wages, better and safer working conditions in the garment sector and emphasizes equal rights for men and women. It is the largest national trade union of garment workers in Bangladesh and currently has about 60,000 members in over 1,200 factory committees. NGWF is active through 10 branch offices in 8 regions. Involving NGWF in the Clean Clothes Campaign also allows to sensitize consumers and brands manufacturing in Bangladesh to enforce safe working conditions and living wages.

CLC is an independent trade union confederation in Cambodia, representing 113,000 workers in different sectors of the Cambodian economy: textile and garment industry, tourism, construction, food and services, transportation, manufacturing industries, financial services, agriculture, informal economy. CLC has 8 affiliated federations who are active all over the country. Its garment federation, C.CAWDU, supports more than 80,000 workers in the textile and clothing industry, the majority of whom are women. It defends their interests with the aim of improving their working conditions, by organizing training and awareness campaigns and by carrying out advocacy work with the authorities and negotiations with their employers, with the support of the Clean Clothes Campaign.

CFTUI is a completely politically independent national trade union, which is quite rare in India. It is present in 20 states with 1,3 million members from ten industries: utilities, transportation, education, construction, trade, food and agriculture, fishing, textile and clothing. CFTUI also has a specific branch for women workers. CFTUI works with vulnerable workers, mostly from informal economy, as well as with migrant workers.

CWM's mission is to fight for the respect of human dignity, for justice, and to ensure that men and women play a central role in development. CWM has about 18,000 members, 40% of which are women in 40 affiliated groups. Its main activities are training and activities with vulnerable workers and unorganized workers from the informal sector. CWM focuses on migrants, women and young workers. CWM regularly organizes awareness campaigns and events, often in collaboration with other NGOs and trade unions.

NDWM was created in 1985 in Tamil Nadu by Sister Jeanne Devos, to empower the many domestic workers exploited in India. With headquarters in Mumbai, NDWM is currently present in 17 states and reaches over 200.000 domestic workers. Priority activities include awareness raising, campaigning and advocacy to improve legislation and labour standards for domestic workers but also migrant workers. For these, NDWM also offers pre-departure training and rehabilitation programs.

AREDS works towards one Humanity, believing that small people with conscious and collective numbers can create another world. AREDS is organizing people and building strong movements that can provide economic, social, cultural and political alternatives. They focus on women, dalits, young people and adolescent. Their action includes non-formal education, vocational training and income generating activities, alternative and ecological sustainable agriculture, education on better health and hygiene practices. Advocacy on better social protection, at the local and the national level, is an important part of their work too.

The NDWF was formed out of the effort of NDWM to organize domestic workers into trade unions led by domestic workers themselves. NDWF aims to protect, ensure and promote the rights of Domestic Workers in India and those working abroad through solidarity and participation. Its objectives are to ensure equal rights for domestic workers like any other workers, with regard to wages, social security, working conditions, health and other benefits etc. Since its creation in 2013, NDWF has been actively involved in lobbying for national legislation for Domestic Workers and to have ILO C189 regarding domestic workers ratified by India. End 2016, NDWF had 9 registered and 6 unregistered affiliated unions, totalizing 16,000 women members across 14 states.

K-SBSI is a trade union confederation, founded in 1992, which brings together workers from a multitude of sectors. K-SBSI demands decent working conditions for its members, implements socio-economic projects in disadvantaged areas, and provides alternative income to its members. It also offers training on work-related topics. With its 550,000 members, K-SBSI is Indonesia’s largest independent trade union and a crucial player in social dialogue. K-SBSI negotiates with employers, the government and other unions for better social protection for all.

GARTEKS is the federation of the clothing and textile sector within K-SBSI. It brings together around 50,000 workers and aims for better working conditions for Indonesian garment workers. In the textile industry, competition is fierce and multinational clothing companies do not hesitate to relocate their production centres, to China or Korea for example, to reduce the margin reserved for wages and working conditions. As a result, Indonesian workers are increasingly hired on temporary contracts to increase the flexibility of their work. In this context, it is difficult to intervene: anyone who demands better working conditions risks being made redundant and replaced by someone else. Unions like GARTEKS are therefore more necessary than ever to support these workers and form an effective counter-power in the event of abuse.

YCW Philippines is a youth organization, part of the International Young Christian Workers’ movement, that is organizing young vulnerable workers in precarious working and living conditions in different regions of the Philippines. Through reflecting upon and analysing the living situations of the young workers and by raising their awareness on the mechanisms that lead to inequality, exclusion, poverty and discrimination in today’s society, YCW calls the youngsters to action to take up responsibility for other vulnerable young people and to bring about social change (see-judge-act). YCW Philippines currently represents hundreds of young workers in different professions (pedicab drivers, factory workers, sugarcane workers, miners, vendors, working students). They focus on raising the capacity of the young workers to improve their working conditions and living standards.

As an independent and democratic labour centre, KMU has been promoting genuine and militant trade unionism in the Philippines since 1980. The confederation is composed of 9 labour federations in different sectors (industry, service, agricultural workers) and two mass organisations in the informal economy (transportation workers and urban poor). The current membership is 115.000 workers with chapters in major regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. KMU, whose name means “May Day Workers’ Movement”, focuses on organizing workers in precarious working conditions, job security as well as on raising awareness and campaigning for restoration of a national minimum wage system and a better social protection.

AHW is an alliance of labour unions in the health sector in the Philippines, representing more than 27,000 workers (doctors, nurses, other personnel in health facilities) in mainly public but also private hospitals and medical centres throughout the country. Since 1984, AHW stood at the forefront in the struggle for better labour rights, decent wages and access to social protection for health workers in the Philippines. The organisation also promotes the right of every Philippino – particularly the poor and disadvantaged – to quality health care. The focus of their actions is on unionizing and organizing the staff in the medical facilities, raising awareness of the public and the health workers on the need for quality healthcare for all Philippino’s, negotiating better working conditions with the hospital management, opposing the use of short-term labour contracts for health workers, and fighting privatization of public hospitals.
